i'm alive... and packing an iphone

So it occurred to me last night that I haven't been as diligent in updating this thing as I had promised. So, Happy belated Thanksgiving, etc. Yes, I'm still around (no, I didn't get burned down with those fires).
After a long (7hr) drive to Phoenix to visit the in-laws for the holiday, my stupid Treo mysteriously died. Don't ask. Long story short, I got fed up with my company's horribly slow replacement policy and ended up buying an iPhone. It's been something I've been on the fence for a while about, but the magic 8-ball suggested that (plus some convincing from the wife that she was tired of hearing me whine about it) I finally make the purchase.
I've had it for about 10 hours now and totally am glad I did so. Not to sound like a goose-stepping Apple clone, but it really is pretty slick. Unfortunately the only complaints I've had so far are a result of the rather tedious AT&T rules and regulations attached to getting one setup; No company discounts, only on a non-commercial account, etc. I haven't really made the decision to "hack" it to install 3rd party applications (although that TIFF hack is a rather interesting way to do so), but because the current firmware of the iPhone is a bit difficult to so currently, I figure I'll just wait until people figure out how to do so.
Anyway, that's my 10-second update. Yes, I know I still owe you the remainder of that Xen cluster tutorial. Check back soon.
